Veteran’s Benefits

Veterans and their spouses are eligible for additional benefits should they become homebound or require care associated with long-term care.


Basic qualifiers for this benefit include:

  • Having served in the military during a time of war (not required to be in combat)
  • Needing the aid or assistance of another person with a number of your activities of daily living (ADLs)
  • Meeting an income test based on your total cost of care
  • Meeting an asset test


Benefits vary based on your current status and needs. Surviving spouses could receive $1,149 per month and a married couple could receive $2,837.

This benefit is separate from the state Medicaid system and has unique rules and guidelines.
